The 1980s are represented here by five O-Pee-Chee assemblies which include some appealing rookie cards and we like to go chronologically, so here goes. A complete 396-card set from 1981-82 features EX-MT Coffey, Kurri and Moog RCs, with Savard, Stastny and Ciccarelli rookies making it to NM. Minimal handling is to report with the rest, with intermittent corner touches/light dings observed. Two tiny wrinkles in #106-Gretzky are notable. Plenty of high grade pulls from a binder look to be possible with a (NM to MINT) ’83-84 assembly, with RCs of Lindbergh (NM (OC)) and Stevens (NM) notable, while an ’84-85 set boasts a strong rookie card roster. We spot, however, a little something or more with most, with Yzerman best (EX-MT+), Neely EX and creases affecting Gilmour and Chelios and corner dings Lafontaine. The remainder are nicer than the last three but corner touches hamper more than half. And now, the Mario Lemieux rookie card year, with Mario’s desirable RC affected by one touched corner, with the other three dinged, sending card #9 to VG-EX in our book. The accompanying 263 cards though are dominated by NM-or-better entries, with 237-MacInnis RC off-centered but otherwise NM+. Notable lesser lights are 106-Gretzky (EX) and 110-Lindbergh (VG). Completing the lot is an ’88-89 OPC set with a couple of touched corners spotted on the Hull RC, the Shanahan NM, the Turgeon but VG and a mix of mostly EX+ to NM among the others. All sorts of possibilities with this ‘80s offering.
