Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A low grade gathering of 1951-52 Parkies will be acceptable to some, with close to half of the group (30-some cards) hampered by major flaws and joined by more presentable examples. A Terry Sawchuk rookie, although with a side-to-side crease, highlights the star cards, with back damage affecting 52-The Winning Goal (pen and pencil writing) and similarly multi-creased RCs of Lindsay (evidence of scrapbook removal) and Kelly (glue residue/staining), with the latter however including a nice blue marker autograph and Red’s “#4”. Heavy creases but no back damage are to note with the Doug Harvey RC. Notable representatives of the better group, although mostly in the P-F-G range, are rookie cards of 3-Bouchard, 5-Olmstead, 19-Henry, 31-Lund, 37-Gadsby, 68-Pronovost, 70-Watson, 72-Meeker, 76-Rollins, 80-Flaman (VG), 86-Kennedy and 105-Conacher, as well as 48-Doug Bentley. Cards with major flaws which could include back damage and/or tape and/or “zip” written on the front (8 cards) include 1-Lach (trimmed), Quackenbush, Schmidt, Mosienko, Abel, Broda, Stanley and Rayner. Nevertheless, more than half of Parkhurst’s inaugural hockey card effort will be interesting to handle and peruse.
