Serving as an original WHA franchise in 1972, the Quebec Nordiques were one of four clubs – along with Winnipeg, Hartford and Edmonton - to later join the NHL in 1979. This lot offers an instant Nords goalie collection, with six sticks including a trio used by Dan Bouchard in the early-to-mid-1980s (one is issued), an example used by Richard Brodeur circa mid-to-late-1970s, one with use attributed to John Garrett, and a stick from the mid-to-late-1980s issued to and signed by Mario Gosselin, accompanied by a glove used by the Thetford Mines native circa late-1980s. First, the Bouchard sticks are all Louisville models with “Bouchard” stamped or appearing in factory graphics, with the game-used examples sporting the original tape on the handle and blade (one has the blade tape removed), with one date stamped to 1981-82 (this stick is also signed, with a personalization), the other, 1983-84. Both show good use. The third issued stick also has a 1981-82 date stamp, with light storage wear present. Next, the Brodeur is a Sher-Wood model with “Brodeur” stamped, with the original tape over the handle and masking tape used on the blade, with heavy use exhibited throughout (considering the use of the tape along with the heavy wear to the underside of the blade, the stick was likely re-taped and used by an unknown individual after Brodeur). The stick attributed to Garrett is a Vic model with “1” handwritten, with the original tape over the handle, with most of the blade tape gone (the outline is still visible). The model matches examples used by Garrett including the tape jobs, with a piece of tape also added to the paddle despite no cracks visible. Lastly, the Gosselin game-issued Sher-Wood hails from 1983-84 as evidenced by the date stamp, and sports “Gosselin” and “33”, with just light age/storage wear, with Mario adding a ballpoint signature and personalization to the shaft. The glove is a CCM model in solid Nords blue with white accents, with heavy wear to the material throughout including some minor soiling, with tears to the fabric over the wrist guard and a piece of Styrofoam padding added by way of skate lace.
