Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A binder of 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee condition-sensitive cards are to consider here, with the pulled stars and randon pulls revealing some corner dings here and there but very few creases. VG-EX to NM looks to be the range for 1st Series representatives, 68 of them being the grey back variety (including #30-Orr (EX)) and EX to EX-MT examples looking to dominate. Overall a little sharper are 2nd Series cards (all white backs except for two), with however an obvious ding and resulting small corner crease sending both the Larry Robinson and Billy Smith rookie cards to VG+ or VG-EX. Other notable RCs are 81-Barber (VG-EX), 166-Schultz (EX) and 254-O’Reilly (off-centered and otherwise VG-EX+). Checklists are unmarked with rubber band indentations in the two red-bordered ones (#116 has a diamond cut and is miscut on the back, otherwise VG-EX, with #129 o/w VG-EX), while #263 is VG-EX. A set of 17 “ring” inserts are a fun complement, although many boys didn’t find them all that much fun back in the day(!), with most EX to EX-MT. Three (Canadiens, NHL, Seals) have inexplicable (production/ packaging?) top-to-bottom “lines” to be aware of. The first appearance of OPC team cards is also to note with the ’73-74 set.
