Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Vintage baseball equipment is offered in the following lot, with a collection consisting mostly of bats and gloves hailing from the 1920s to 1970s and totaling 10, with the majority originating from the 1920s to 1940s. Included, we have 5 gloves, highlighted by a gorgeous D&R City League model with intact silver stampings and a beautiful cloth patch (the glove shows little if any use, but does have a name faintly handwritten). This is followed by a rarely seen Victor G3X model fielder’s glove from the 1930s with bold stampings and an intact and clean white cloth label (Victor merged with Wright & Ditson in 1918, but the name continued to be used on items produced in Canada). We also have a 1940s Dubow Vic Lombardi signature model glove (moderate wear), a 1930s Winn-Well buckle-back catchers mitt (heavier wear) and a exceptionally rare Summerlee Professional Model baseman’s mitt from the 1940s, with items from the Toronto sporting good store almost impossible to find – ideal for the glove maker/label collector. The bats include a 1920s H&B cork grip bat with 1914 patent date (33”, with heavy wear to the cork grip), a huge 1920s Trio Regulation model with thick handle and barrel (35”, wear and deadwood at the top of the barrel), a 1930s/40s Kren 150 “Medwick Style” bat (34”, with heavy wear including dead wood, and a cracked and taped handle, and an H&B Louisville 125 Mickey Mantle K55 model from the 1960s produced for collegiate use, with both “Mickey Mantle” and “Concordia College” engraved to the barrel (33”, with bold stampings and heavy wear, with a number of nails and a screw used to rectify a break. Lastly, we have a 1940s/50s Spalding bar style catchers mask (the same model used by Yogi Berra), with moderate to heavier wear and an intact Spalding cloth patch.
