Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Considered by many to be the Montreal Canadiens all-time greatest player as well as one of the sport’s most elite, Maurice Richard thrilled Montreal Forum fans for almost two decades. This lot includes a trio of vintage Rocket photos, with each hailing directly from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens. Oversized at approx 11” x 14”, included are images of the Rocket and his wife meeting Queen Elizabeth during a royal visit, a photo from 1994 with politician Jean Roy (1923-1996), and a single portrait image, also from 1994. The 1994 images were both taken by Bob Fisher and are signed on the reverse, with a Film Board of Canada stamp on the reverse of the royal visit photo. As an added bonus, three additional photos are included, with the Habs in Russia (circa 1990), an image of Serge Savard in Russia and an interior forum shot. All photos show light to moderate handling wear. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
