Winning silver while representing Czechoslovakia at the 1976 and 1984 Winter Olympics, Milan Chalupa was a Detroit Red Wings draft choice in 1984, but never played a single game in the NHL, opting instead for a career split between ASD Dukla Jihlava (Czech league) and EHC Freiburg (Eishockey-Bundesliga). This Czechoslovakia national team jersey was worn by the star in 1981, seeing action in a pair of games prior to the IIHF World Championships in Sweden (April 12-26). Sporting no labeling and measuring-out to roughly a size 52, the vintage tie-neck jersey with knit sleeve and waist bands features a shield team crest with embroidered detailing. “5” appears over the sleeves and verso in drop-shadow, layered canvas, with no nameplate over the upper reverse. A somewhat harder to locate international gem, the jersey displays wonderfully and is ready for an appreciative home.
Regarding condition, the tie-string is intact, with a few faint puck marks and small stains over the front section, with some additional minor spot staining over the sleeves and reverse. A few small unrepaired holes are also visible, including over the right elbow, with a bit of blue paint transfer present on the upper sleeve.
