Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Invaluable to the city of Montreal and its history, John Molson immigrated to colonial Quebec in the late-18th century, and founded the famous Molson Breweries. Establishing a dynasty that included building the first steamship and public railway in Canada, Molson also established a hospital, hotel, and theatre in the burgeoning hamlet that would later become the city of Montreal. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a John Molson 1986 Canada Post First Day Cover advertising framed display. At 15 ½” x 19 ½” (exposed) and advertising the 1987 Philatelic Exhibition in Toronto, Molson is wonderfully depicted, with the display matted and framed to full dimensions of 27” x 30 ½”. We should note that the gorgeous gilt frame shows light wear. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
