Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Presented annually for "outstanding service to hockey in the United States", the Lester Patrick Trophy was first awarded in 1966, with players, coaches, referees, and executives all eligible to receive the honour. At 11” in height with a weight of 8 lbs and mounted to a rectangular wooden base with sloping sides and brown felt underside, this amazing bronze statue is an un-awarded miniature, and is an accurate reproduction of the original, missing just the plaque at the base. In beautiful condition, sporting an even layer of patina with a bit of wear to the base, a production number of “62012, 003, 001” appears handwritten in pencil along the lower reverse, and we should note that the hockey stick is currently detached from the sculpture. While it should be noted that the original work was produced by Princeton University professor Joe Brown, bronze hockey statues are extremely rare and valuable in any form, making this offering a rare opportunity.
