Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
On March 16, 1996, the Montreal Canadiens entered their new home at the Molson Centre and held a pre-game ceremony which saw team captain Pierre Turgeon hold the team’s torch high. While the frame houses the matted photo and a metal plate identifying the moment, it does have some scuffs, chips, and rubber adhesive residue. This is understandable when since it was on display in hockey’s revered temple. On the back, the frame has two pieces of wood attached that previously mounted the frame to a wall and some tears in the backing paper. However, this should in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
