Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Hockey has a great tradition of players giving copies of their jerseys to their favourite teammates and in the case of retired blueliner Stephane Quintal, he was the recipient of two pro model, but not game-worn, jerseys in the style worn by the North American side at the 1999 NHL All-Star Game in Tampa Bay.
At the time, Quintal and Mark Recchi were teammates on the Montreal Canadiens since the defenceman joined the club in 1995-96 and this was their final year playing together. The future Hall of Famer bestowed his teammate with a jersey and provided the dedication of "To the "BIG Q" It's been great playing with you! Good luck with everything! Your Buddy," before signing his name below. This pro model jersey is not game-used and features five tags in the collar which include the size (54) two Made in Canada tags (one has a pinhole in it), one for the Centre Ice Authentic Collection, and a large CCM Authentic On Ice Game Jersey tag. Another laundry tag can be found inside on the left torso seam. On the shoulders, look for a Canadiens logo on the left side and an event patch on the right shoulder. There are a few small pinholes from previous mounting which can be found in the silver area of the jersey, but it does not take away from the jersey's good looks.
As for the other jersey, it came from Quintal's former St. Louis Blues teammate Brendan Shanahan. The pair skated together during the 1991-92 and 1992-93 campaigns and at the time of the 1999 NHL All-Star Game, Shanahan was with the Detroit Red Wings. It is also sign on the back by the Hall of Fame inside the number 4. This pro model jersey is not game-used and features five tags in the collar which include the size (56) two Made in Canada tags (one has a pinhole in it), one for the Centre Ice Authentic Collection, and a large CCM Authentic On Ice Game Jersey tag. Another laundry tag can be found inside on the left torso seam. On the shoulders, look for a Red Wings logo on the left side and an event patch on the right shoulder. There are a few small pinholes from previous mounting which can be found in the silver areas of the jersey's sleeves and torso, but it should not detract from the jersey's overall presentation.
A signed LOA from Stephane Quintal will accompany these pieces.
