Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The passing of the torch is a common theme throughout the history of the Canadiens franchise and one of the greatest players to pass it along to future generations was the Rocket, Maurice Richard. Depicted here in his twilight years, his intensity still comes across in his stare. There are a few scuffs and marks on the front and the corners and edges of the display as to be expected from hanging in one of hockey's holy temples, but it will display nicely in your home or office. Some of the lamination does show signs of wear and lifting, but the photo remains intact. There are small marks on the back indicating it had been mounted in the past. However, this will in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
