Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Offered here is a fine framed photo display featuring early-to-mid 1950s action between Montreal and Toronto. We see the trio of Bernard Geoffrion, Jean Beliveau, and Maurice Richard ready to score on Harry Lumley with Tim Horton closing in. Note the handwritten "David Bier Photo" on the matted photo reproduction doesn't seem to originate from the David Bier studios. A golden plate on the matte describes the action in English and French. The green frame does have some small indentations and scuffs on the outer frame, which is understandable when since it was on display in hockey’s revered temple. However, this should in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Montreal Forum and possibly later on at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
