Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
As if our consignor's unopened hockey card boxes and packs from the 1970s weren't enough to get the juices flowing, remarkable rack packs with key cards showing bring things to a gushing level, wouldn't you say?! The out-of-nowhere Stanley Cup hero of only months prior, Ken Dryden appeared on his rookie card when Topps released its 1971-72 card set, with 54 of the issue's 132 cards contained in this riveting rack pack. Dryden pictured wearing his mask was exciting to kids back in the day, with card #45 providing excitement some 50 years later. The back of a Phil Esposito card is showing on the bottom here, with the Espo brothers, Orr, Howe, Hull and, for the first time, League Leader cards headlining the '71-72 set's star power.
Some touches to the bottom corners of the three cards on top are observed, with GAI giving a NM+ 7.5 assessment to the fabulous survivor. A tiny edge crack at the top left and bottom left corners of the GAI holder are to note, but are in no way detrimental in our eyes.
