Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Lovers of unopened material will absolutely love the opportunity that this scarcity offers, with hobbyists of a certain age also sure to marvel at the sight of this 1970-71 Topps wax box that houses 24 unopened packs, the likes of which sold for a dime apiece back in the day. The “EXTRA…FULL SIZE STICKER IN EVERY PACK!” that appears on the front and both side panels prompts visions of the luscious “Sticker Stamps” that star superstars Orr, Howe, Hull, Beliveau, the Esposito brothers and over two dozen other players, while the rookie card of soon-to-be superstar Gilbert Perreault leads the 132-card lineup, with Park and Cashman RCs also notable. Certified Authentic – Unopened and encapsulated by GAI, with the firm rendering a NM+ 7.5 assessment, the box exhibits a couple of creases on the box top (a two-inch vertical one rises up from near the hockey player’s right skate (far left), with a horizontal crease extending from above/to the left of “NHL”). Wear at the (eight) corners is also visible, along with touches of paper loss on the upper edge of the front panel. The first such wax box we’ve ever offered, it’s a mesmerizing piece to hold and behold while contemplating the...luscious contents!
The holder itself has part of its outer lower right edge chipped off.
