Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Quite difficult to locate, especially from prestigious and notable makers, vintage hockey advertising is rarely offered, with these two 1950s stand-up displays produced by equipment giant CCM highly desirable. Matching in size and style with wonderful Art Deco aesthetics and vivid colouration, each display is approx 16” x 25” at the widest points including the easel, with one featuring a generic player in what appears to be a Montreal Canadiens sweater, the other, a Toronto Maple Leaf. The tag lines boast the company’s fame including “Players in 31 countries use CCM skates”, with both “McLaren and McCaul Limited, Toronto” and “Made in Canada” along each base. In especially pleasing condition ideal for display, the “Canadiens” specimen shows light edge and corner wear with a few creases to the reverse, while the “Maple Leafs” example also sports light edge and corner wear along with some faint discolouration/staining. Part of the easel is also detached but present.
