There was no doubt that NHL superstardom was in store for Connor McDavid with his prodigious play in junior hockey. McDavid, who went on to become the first overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft, signed this photo-matched CCM game-used stick he used with the Erie Otters during his sensational 2012-13 OHL rookie season, when he recorded 66 points in 63 games as a 16-year-old. This McDavid junior hockey gamer is photo-matched by three separate Getty Images photos of McDavid using it during Erie’s game in London, Ont., on February 18. 2013. Connor’s original tape jobs are on the blade and the knob, which has “97” handwritten on it and the factory printed "C. McDavid" below it.
This McDavid game-used stick was broken and repaired, and some of the dust and paint from the repair shows on other portions of the shaft. Connor’s bold black marker autograph is on the well-worn tape job on the blade. The tape job on the knob also displays extensive wear, testifying that this gamer gave its all.
