On November 8, 2014, the Montreal Canadiens honored one of their greatest defenseman in Guy Lapointe, by retiring his #5 to the rafters of the Bell Centre. The Canadiens wore a special set of jerseys throughout the proceeding game with an important patch on the breast honoring Lapointe. Originally sold through a collaboration between Classic Auctions and the Montreal Canadiens to offer the team’s jerseys worn for that historic game, we have the specimen worn by Alex Galchenyuk. Size 56 tagging appears in the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with attractive dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers along with the mighty CH team crest, the important Guy Lapointe number “5” patch has been sewn over the right breast. The team patch numbered “A03716” resides on the inside hem, while a hologram numbered “GU07849” has been affixed to the fight strap, with a matching LOA to accompany from the Canadiens.
A decisive 4-1 win for the Habs over the Wild, Gallagher and Eller scored in the second, with a pair added in the third by Sekac and Pacioretty to seal the victory. Galchenyuk logged just over 16 minutes in the game, contributing 4 shots on goal. Game-wear includes just a few board burns on and around the elbow of the left sleeve.
