Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
An interesting extensive collection of Post Cereal items from back-to-back seasons in the early-1980s is offered here, with 3-D Stars in Action cards and related material from 1981-82 leading chronologically. There are two scarce so-called “salesman sample boxes”, one in nicer condition than the other and both housing complete 28-card sets. Another complete set is also present, along with a flattened Alpha-Bits box and an official NHL fact chart poster (18” x 24”) that had to be mailed away for. Super sniper Mike Bossy appears on a Sugar-Crisp cereal box from ’82-83, informing that a complete 16-card team set of miniature playing cards was available inside boxes. A set of 21 teams, still in unseparated panel form has been preserved in beauty NM condition, while another is housed in an infrequently-seen salesman sample box that pictures Bossy in action, with a “Bossy Scores Again” caption – cool. The box exhibits handling/wear but the panels of cards are again like-new. There’s also an uncut sheet (with creases) of the little cards, with 18 teams included. Teams not appearing are the Oilers, Canadiens and Maple Leafs. Competing the lot is a seldom-seen ’84-85 Fleer Speed Hockey display box, full of three-card cello packs, with the postcard-size cards a scratch-off game that could be played by oneself or with an opponent/friend. The box shows wear and tear (the box top has become detached), with 36 cellos present.
