Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Best remembered for the epic Team USA victory over the Soviets that is still recognized as one of the greatest upsets in the history of sports, we have a wonderful collection of items from the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid including tickets, programs, daily bulletins, informational and organizing committee documents and even the official magazine. First, there are 11 total tickets including 2 full tickets and 9 stubs, highlighted by a stub for the Feb 2nd hockey match between the Americans and West Germany (won by the US 4-2). The additional stubs include a single Opening Ceremony and a pair of Closing Ceremony examples, along with stubs for alpine skiing, figure skating (2) and speed skating (2), while the two full tickets are for bobsled (the majority show handling wear, with a few large creases to the hockey ticket). Next, we have Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony programs (7” x 12”), with each sporting moderate handling wear, followed by 6 different 4-page bulletins (8 ½” x 11”), with Issue VII featuring the Team USA victory over the Russians. Rounding out the lot, the Olympic magazine shows moderate wear, while the informational and organizing committee documents are in two large folders, and includes a large fold-out schedule, Olympic village map, large Olympic stamps poster and much more!
