Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

Marcel Dionne was on his way to a career-high 59 goals when he was selected to play in the 1979 Challenge Cup, a 3-game series pitting the best of the NHL against the best of the Soviet Union. The Series was played in February at New York's Madison Square Garden and replaced the annual NHL All-Star game that year. This is the pocket watch that Dionne received for his participation in the series, won 2-1 by the Soviets. Produced by Movado, the gold-coloured watch measures 1 ½” in diameter, appears to be in working order and is nicely engraved "Marcel Dionne" underneath the Challenge Cup logo on the inner side of the front case. A 16” chain is also suspended, with just light wear present to the watch overall. Obtained directly from Marcel Dionne, the charming and seldom-offered souvenir will come with his signed LOA.
