Just the second NHL team in history to repeat as Stanley Cup champions, the Montreal Canadiens captured the 1930 title after sweeping the Boston Bruins in a best-of-three final, while the 1931 championship witnessed the Habs take out Charlie Gardiner and the Chicago Black Hawks in five. This formidable framed team photo display pictures the historic 1930 and 1931 consecutive Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. Produced by the renowned Rice Studios of Montreal, these seldom-seen and rarely offered masterpieces were only presented to team members and executives. Featuring hand-embellished detailing throughout, red, white and blue colouration has been added to bring each uniform to life, with additional brush strokes of rose on the player’s cheeks and splashes of brown to the gloves and skates to elevate this photo to an original and unique piece of art. The blue and red borders have also been executed by hand, along with the strokes of white paint that add a genuine sense of on-ice movement to the players. Legends Howie Morenz, Aurele Joliat and George Hainsworth are pictured along with teammates and executives, with the results from the 1930 and 1931 finals listed at each side. Set in a vintage wood frame with full dimensions of approx 26” x 34”, this breathtaking hand-embellished photo is unquestionably one of the most attractive Montreal Canadiens display pieces ever offered, and would fit comfortably in any world class collection.
We should note some wear to the frame including a few small chips/blemishes, with the photo held in place by a strofoam backing.
