Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

The American flag patch was added to the upper back of the jersey of all MLB teams for the remainder of the 2001 season in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. This wonderfully embroidered memorial patch sits on the upper back of Montreal Expos slugger Lee Stevens’ 2001 Montreal Expos batting practice / spring training work jersey. It clearly displays 50 white stars on a blue background surrounded by 13 red and white stripes, the whole outline gilded with golden yellow thread. Stevens belted 25 homers and had 95 RBIs in 2001, his second season in Montreal. A size XXL flag tag hangs below the Majestic Athletic MLB Authentic Collection tagging on the left front tail. The gorgeous Expos team patch is sewn on the left sleeve of this blue mesh beauty with double twill surname letters, numbers and script Expos on the front sewn directly onto the batting practice jersey, which is the same type of jersey that was also worn during spring training. In wonderful condition with a few light marks on the right placket of the front tail. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will go to Expos Fest benefiting the Kat D DIPG Foundation at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Comes with a Florida Marlins LOA signed by equipment manager John Silverman, who previously held the same position with the Expos.
