Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

This marvelous gold career tribute ring is from the personal collection of Jacques Laperriere. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987, the smooth Montreal Canadiens defenceman won the Calder Memorial Trophy and was named to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team as a rookie in 1963-64. He moved up to the First All-Star Team each of the next two seasons, including the 1965-66 season when he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league’s top defenceman. Laperriere won six Stanley Cups over the course of his 12-year playing career so it is fitting that a raised miniature gold Cup is presented on the face of the ring surrounded by 22 zirconias. With a total weight of 24 grams, four additional zirconias are set on each side of the face of the ring with “Montreal” at the top and “Canadiens” at the bottom. The right shank has “Coupe Stanley Cup Champions” written across a banner with Laperriere’s first seven seasons listed below that, a period in which Montreal won four Cups. An image of the front of the Montreal Forum prior to its 1968 renovation appears at the bottom. The left shank features a raised gold Canadiens logo painted in red, white and blue enamel with “Laperriere” on a banner above it and his No. 2 beneath the logo. Scratches from use cover the outer band, with some additional wear to the interior band and along edges. This wonderful 10k ring from Jostens is a size 10 ½ and it comes with Jacques Laperriere’s signed letter of authenticity.
