Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Three consecutive seasons of hockey “coins” offered with Shirriff products started in 1960-61 and the little discs are still popular among some collectors. This ensemble has been housed in coin holders and 20-pocket pages, with the pulled stars dominated by examples with only light wear both front and back. Some more obvious scratches in the clear plastic “windows” are observed on coins picturing Beliveau, Mahovlich and Bathgate. We’d say, without pulling out and examining every single coin, that the majority are in the EX neighborhood, with the backs of a few Red Wings showing discoloration. Only four coins with edge cracks are spotted; 1-Bower, 44-Delvecchio, 71-Mikita and 114-Tessier, with just one (64-Sloan) exhibiting evidence on the back of once having been glued. In a binder and all ready for you to have fun flipping through when they arrive are these classic collectibles.
