A splendid rendition of a smiling "Splendid Splinter" is featured on Ted Williams' 1956 Topps issue, with this card #5 gray back version recently slabbed EX-MT 6 by PSA. Side-to-side centering is perfect, with a partial rough bottom edge visible on the thin bottom border. Despite being limited to 98 games the previous season, Ted stroked 28 homers and hit at a .356 clip to bring his career average to .344, tops among active players. He then hit .345 in '56, .388 in '57 and '328 in '58, the latter two marks producing his fifth and sixth A.L. batting titles. Fellow all-time great Willie Mays is quoted as having called Ted the best pure hitter he ever saw. This Williams card, with its vivid original colors, will be a hit with you when it is delivered.
