Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
An integral component of the well-oiled production machine that was the Edmonton Oilers during their glorious 1980s heyday, Glenn Anderson would contribute to the club greatly with three seasons of eclipsing the 100-point total, with participation in four All-Star Games during the era. This team-signed stick was used by the superstar during the Stanley Cup championship season of 1984-85, where he netted 99 points. A Canadien 6001 model with mostly intact striping accents, “Anderson” (heavily faded) and “9” appear on the upper shaft, with the original black tape over the blade and white on the knob. Approx one dozen Oilers have signed the front side of the shaft in black marker, including Anderson, along with Gretzky, Moog, Messier, Coffey, Krushelnyski, Lidstrom and others, with the signatures bold.
The stick exhibits nice game-use with wear to the taped section of blade and marks to the lower shaft. There is also some red and blue paint transfer visible. The blade itself appears to be cracked on the underside at the heel section, but the stick remains completely solid.
