Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Serving as the first head coach in New York Islanders franchise history, Phil Goyette had previously starred for both the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, winning four Stanley Cup championships with the Habs along with the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, in 1970. Hailing from the late-1950s/early-1960s when the Canadiens were on top of the hockey world, we have a signed stick used by the Lachine native, accompanied by a second vintage stick from the era signed by legendary Canadiens superstars Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur. The Goyette stick is a CCM Pattern Made Professional model with “Goyette” and “20” stamped to the upper shaft, with the original black tape over the handle and cracked blade. Goyette has signed over the heel section in black marker, with no issues for the autograph. Great game-use is exhibited, with wear to the blade and mark to the lower shaft. The signed stick is also a CCM Pattern Made Professional model, with “5” stamped to the upper shaft, with both Lafleur and Beliveau adding large and flawless blue marker signatures to the same side of the blade – ideal for display! The stick exhibits toning along with some white residue over the top of the shaft.
