Rewriting the goaltenders handbook throughout his legendary career as both an innovator and perfectionist, Jacques Plante mastered played the angles, with his forays from the crease to chase roaming pucks now commonplace among netminders. The mighty Montreal Canadiens, backstopped by the formidable Plante, continued to roll in 1957-58 as current Stanley Cup champions. The Habs claimed the regular season title as Plante's nine shutouts and 2.11 GAA led the league and earned the superstar his third consecutive Vezina trophy. At 13” in height, this miniature 1957-58 Vezina Trophy, produced in the early-2000s at the request of Switzerland's Jacques Plante Foundation features “Trophee Georges Vezina” engraved, with a plaque over the base sporting the particulars including “Jacques Plante”, “Montreal Canadiens” and “1957-58”. Remaining in gorgeous condition with just a bit of wear to the tiered wooden base, there are also a few tiny blemishes to the metal components including over the right hockey stick. An LOA signed by Jacques’ widow Caroline Plante will accompany this paramount treasure.
