Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
A standout with the Russian national team throughout his career, Ilya Kovalchuk skated for five different NHL clubs but is best remembered for his time with Atlanta, enjoying his highest-scoring season with the Thrashers in 2005-06. This signed stick was used by the superstar during the mid-2000s. A Warrior Dolomite model with "I. Kovalchuk" factory graphics, there is a serial number on the underside of the shaft, with the stick painted black on the lower section (Kovalchuk used examples with the lower shaft painted during the second half of 2005-06 and early-on in 2006-07). The original white tape on the blade and black over the handle and knob is intact. Light game-use is exhibited, with wear to the taped section of blade including the underside, with a few marks and some light residue along edges of the shaft. Kovalchuk has added a black marker signature across the frontside blade that displays well. Originating from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
