Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Designed to properly equip the high-level goaltender of yesteryear, this lot contains a great collection of vintage netminder equipment totaling 8 pieces, ranging from circa-1940s to early-1970s, highlighted by an especially rare solid red blocker produced by Reach in the 1940s. First, we have an early leather chest protector produced by Cooper Weeks in the 1940s or possibly earlier, with heavy wear present, with the original strapping intact but torn in spots. This is followed by the rare Reach blocker model 4711, in solid red leather with black wrist guard, with just light wear present, with the Reach logo displaying beautifully. Next, we have a early-1950s possibly earlier Cooper Weeks Professional model blocker with leather cover and cloth patch, with nice wear exhibited including an intact palm, with a name handwritten over the wrist guard. There is a second Cooper blocker, with this GM12 model from the 1960s, with light to moderate game use visible and no damage. Rounding out the lot, we have a group of four trappers, with the earliest a D&R H165 model produced for a youth in the 1950s, with moderate to heavy wear present including damage to the piping. The remaining gloves were produced by Cooper and include a GM6 youth model from the 1960s which shows just light wear, and two from the 1970s including a GM21 model, with that particular trapper also featuring an added custom-padding section over the wrist guard by Mitchell Enterprises, with heavy wear to both.
