Wayne took a bite out of the Big Apple when he moved over to the Rangers for the start of the 1996-97 season. This game-used Easton Silver Tip from that season shows great game use with marks and paint chips along the shaft and stick marks and slashes on the blade with dings in the blade tape job. A five-inch shaft split appears where the wood blade meets the shaft. Complete with the expected black foam “Jack the Gripper” handle and “Gretzky” factory-stamped on the wood Easton blade. This stick has been specially customized with an additional code written on the butt end and a small hologram sticker added by a past consignor. Another hard-to-find style with a peachy blue Wayne Gretzky signature at the tip of the blade! The stick has been mounted within an attractive black frame with full dimensions of approx 68” x 15” x 3”, and can be shipped with or without the frame.
Collectors have been aggressively seeking out these Rangers-era Silvertip models as they have become increasingly difficult to obtain. Wayne spent three full seasons with the Rangers in New York and scored a respectable 25 goals and a total of 97 points in his first outing in 1996-97.
