Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

An interesting three-sport trifecta is offered up here, with a Topps version of Mario Lemieux's rookie card matched up with an O-Pee-Chee set from 1985-86. With pleasing side-to-side centering, card #9 is NM or very close to it (EX-MT+), with a small mark in the upper right border visible. The O-Pee-Chee cards are admittedly not wonderful for cards from the 1980s, with varying degrees of corner wear spotted in key cards pulled from a binder, some of them with creases (Gretzky, Lemieux League Leader, Lindbergh memorial) and VG to EX-MT grades to report among the rest, with a VG-EX Al MacInnis RC noteworthy. ......Meanwhile legendary Canadian Football League quarterbacks and stars headline a decent 1961 Topps CFL near set. Rookie cards of Ron Lancaster and Ron Stewart (both VG-EX+), as well as cards of Jackie Parker (VG-EX), Russ Jackson (EX), Hal Patterson (EX) and Tommy Joe Coffey (EX) are notable crease-free examples with no coin-rubbed backs, while a crease and/or wear send Faloney (scuffs), Kapp (MC) and Rote to the VG neighborhood. The well-centered checklist has some check marks erased and displays well with no unsightly creases, while the rest look to average VG+. Four stars are required for completion; #s 4-Fleming, 62-Dixon, 106-Gilchrist and 125-Lewis. Baseball is represented by some throw-ins; nine 1952 Bowman cards are low grade (six have writing front and back), while 43 TCMA All-Time Greats postcards exhibit trimming. A transparency-like sheet featuring images of four 1960 Topps manager cards completes the lot.
