Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Producing 31 wins including 27 backstopped by Roger Crozier, the Detroit Red Wings would finish in 4th place as the 1965-66 NHL season concluded, and would get past Chicago before losing a hard-fought six-game Stanley Cup final to those oh so deadly Montreal Canadiens. This would be the last Motor City squad to compete for Lord Stanley’s hardware until 1995. Featuring the signatures of members of the 1965-66 Red Wings, we have a pair of small autograph booklets signed by 15 including deceased HOFers Gordie Howe, Sid Abel, Ted Lindsay, Bill Gadsby and Andy Bathgate, as well as fellow member Alex Delvecchio, along with Paul Henderson, Roger Crozier (twice) and others. Each small 3” x 4 ½” blue-paged booklet was provided by The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, with each having four pages signed, with Howe, Henderson and one other one the first page of the first booklet, Crozier and two others on the second, Abel and two others on the third and Lindsay on the fourth. The second booklet has 1 signature on the first page, Gadsby on the second, Delvecchio, Crozier and one other on the third and Bathgate on the fifth (the fourth page has just scribbles). These are individual pages – not back to back, with the majority of the signatures in pencil and displaying well, with the Howe in ballpoint with no issues. The booklets themselves show moderate wear.
