Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
All sorts of interesting vintage collectibles in all sorts of condition offered here date back to the pre-war era, with a Boston Bruins crest/shield and two Who's Who in the NHL guides (1936-37, '37-38) being Bee Hive premiums and among the highlights. Only a subtle little stain and minor edge fraying affect the attractive Bruins piece, with one original mailing envelope included with the VG guides. A Crown Brand booklet in French and by Tommie Gorman has its original envelope, with hockey tips also featured in Bee Hive booklets from the 1940s by Hap Day and Dick Irvin, with two French copies of the latter and writing on the backs of all three (owners' name and address). In rough shape and with writing is a '46-47 Maple Leaf Bantam Hockey Club membership booklet, while a '48-49 "How We Play Hockey" book by the NHL All-Stars has artist images of six stars and is autographed in blue marker on the title page by Maurice Richard. Fantastic photos are in '48-49 and '49-50 "Hockey Album" publications, with the earlier book in pleasing condition and the later one low grade. A 1951 "The Hockey Scene" book also is entertaining with articles and some less-often-seen pictures. Bee Hive scribblers include a nice (unused) French one and an English version with lots of writing inside, while a (1947) magazine ad in French pitches the Quaker Oats photo/premium promotion and features Butch Bouchard. A '57-58 Star Weekly premium crest (8" in diameter) features the logos of the six NHL clubs and displays relatively well despite some minor soiling/staining, while a '62-63 Cowan Tile of Montreal's Phil Goyette is in beauty near mint condition in its original box. A set of four Coca-Cola instructional booklets in French from '66-67 feature Richard, Laperriere, Keon and Bower and are VG to VG-EX. Colgate "Heads" from the early-'70s total 11 and include Orr, Dryden and Plante, while a Post Shooter of Frank Mahovlich still has its three little pucks attached - cool. A Coca-Cola 6-pack carrying carton advertising six posters is rough but is a scarce item, with a dozen other miscellaneous items to be discovered completing the collection.
