Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Classic collectibles here have completeness as an attribute, with a 1960-61 set of 120 coins leading both chronologically and condition-wise. Light to moderate handling/wear is observed, with light scratches to the clear "windows" the norm and intermittent cracks observed but just four edge chips. A '61-62 set (120) has 13 to 16 coins per team with back damage (clear glue), with a dozen chipped examples (Sawchuk, Hall). Prone to wear are metal coins from '62-63, with paint loss around the rims of most here, but multiples of Plante, Hull, Mahovlich, Harvey and Keon joining stars Howe, Beliveau, Richard, Horton and others. Three hundred ever-popular Shirriff coins offer several possibilities.
Aforementioned '60-61 coins with an edge chip are #s 2-Duff, 4-Kelly, 87-Shack and 111-Meissner, while 66-Howe is among the numerous (88) '61-62s which were once glued.
