Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Wonderfully executed artwork best exemplifies the following lot, with a complete set of 12 Steinberg promotional Montreal Canadiens glasses issued in 1965-66, with each featuring charming dual-images, along with a complete set of 240 1983 Hockey Hall of Fame Postcards, with the gorgeous artwork of the late artist and hockey historian Carlton McDiarmid featured. At 6”, each thermal plastic cup features sensational pastel artwork that includes a portrait and an action drawing of the Canadiens player, along with the team and grocery store logos. Constituting a complete set, Beliveau, Richard, J.C. Tremblay, G. Tremblay, Rousseau, Backstrom, Provost, Talbot, Ferguson, Laperriere, Hodge and Gump Worsley are all included, along with a pair of extra Laperriere glasses. Condition is fairly uniform throughout, with light wear from use to the majority of glasses which includes the odd scratch or bit of residue to the underside, with the interior white sections remaining clean. The Rousseau glass sports a crack, as does the Backstrom to the underside, with moderate scratches over the Beliveau glass. The 1983 HHOF postcards are in their original packets, with 15 packets each holding 16 cards for a total of 240. Each packet has been re-wrapped in cellophane. While we haven’t checked the contents, the set appears to be complete.
