A member of five Stanley Cup championships while capturing the Conn Smythe and Frank J Selke awards in his 1,100+ NHL contests, Bob Gainey would be honoured with Hall of Fame enshrinement in 1992, forever joining the past legends of the game. Hailing from his personal collection, we have a pair of member blazers for the HHOF and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, along with Gainey’s HHOF dinner medal. We also have his glass HHOF plaque presented for his services as a member of the board of directors, along with a pair of induction programs and a photo signed by the 1992 HHOF inductees. The blazers are both in solid navy with crests over the left breast pocket, with the HHOF blazer produced by Tip Top Tailors, the Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame blazer by Cambridge, with all buttons intact and light wear to each. The medal is 2 ½” in diameter, with a HHOF logo over the obverse and “Bob Gainey” engraved along with “September 21, 1992” on the reverse. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
The medal shows some surface wear and oxidation, with the original black display case included, with a piece of tape with “Bob Gainey” handwritten added to the underside. The HHOF plaque is approx 8” x 12”, with a HHOF logo, model of the building and generic bench with players mounted, with the engraved text to include “In recognition of distinguished and devoted service as a member of the Board of Directors, 2005-2014” and “Bob Gainey”. The glass potion shows wear, with the award quite heavy. The programs are for the Peterborough Sports HOF from 1993 and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame from 1995, with the 1992 inductee photo signed by Dionne, Dumart, McDonald, Mathers, Allen, Robson and most likely the wife of Bob Johnson. The Hockey Hall of Fame jacket is approx. a size 46 while the Canada Sports Hall of Fame jacket is approx a size 44.
