Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Celebrating a century of existence and serving as the oldest and most successful professional hockey club in the world, the Montreal Canadiens met and defeated their longtime rivals the Boston Bruins in the franchise’s centennial game, played on Dec 4, 2009. A presentation for past greats preceded the game, with this gorgeous Canadiens display presented to legendary HOF superstar and past captain, Bob Gainey. At approx 13” in height and featuring an encased Habs embroidered CH jersey team crest mounted over a plexiglass base, a Canadiens centennial logo resides over the bottom right, with engraved text over the front of the base listing the particulars including “The Centennial”, “4 Decembre 2009”, “Thank you for being with us for this memorable moment in the history of the Montreal Canadiens”, and “Bob Gainey”. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this formidable Habs display piece.
There is light wear to the plexiglass in spots, with the odd scratch or small blemish visible. There is also a small sticker affixed to the underside.
