Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Bittersweet memories for Canadian baseball fans are conjured up by the contents of these 4 boxes, each containing 12 Rawlings official Major League baseballs for either the 1993 and 1994 World Series. Lot consists of a total of 48 World Series baseballs, some of which exhibit spots of toning. Two boxes contain a total of 24 balls stamped with the 1994 series logo in red, for the Fall Classic that was never played, with the other two boxes containing an equal mix of both 1993 and 1994 balls (12 of each, 24 total), with the 1993 examples the same ball that Joe Carter drove over the left-field wall at SkyDome to give the Toronto Blue Jays their second straight World Series title. The ill-fated Montreal Expos had the best record in the majors when a player's strike was called in August of 1994 and the rest of the season was ultimately cancelled, along with the playoffs and World Series, leaving baseball fans to forever ponder what might have been.
