Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The recipient of countless awards, trophies and accolades throughout his legendary Hall of Fame career, we have a pair of matching trophies that were presented to iconic superstar Jean Beliveau late in his career, with each hailing from his personal collection. Originating from “Galas des Artistes” held annually where singers, actors and public figures from the province of Quebec are honoured, we have a trophy from 1966 along with a specimen from 1969, with each featuring a silver Art Deco style silhouette figure with classical Greek actor masks. The 1966 trophy is 13” in height, with a circular black wooden base, with the particulars engraved on an affixed plaque including “Trophee Meritas”, “Jean Beliveau” and “1966”, while the 1969 trophy is a bit taller, with a square tiered black wooden base, with the particulars again engraved on an affixed plaque. An LOA from the Beliveau family will accompany.
Each trophy sports surface wear over the base including some minor chipping along edges of the 1966 trophy, with a few white paint flecks visible along the base of the 1969 trophy. The head had also broken off of the 1966 trophy at some point and was repaired.
