Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Hockey royalty as the grandson of legendary and iconic superstar Fred “Cyclone” Taylor and a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Mark Taylor was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1978, with a trio of seasons spent in The City of Brotherly Love before additional time skating for both Pittsburgh and Washington. This Penguins jersey was worn by the Vancouver native in 1983-84, his first of two seasons in Pennsylvania. A faded and washed-out label is affixed to the collar along with a Sandow logo over the reverse hem, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 48. Featuring a rubberized team crest and numbers, “Taylor” has been screened over the affixed mesh nameplate in individual yellow vinyl letters. A loop and lace fight strap has also been utilized on the desirable garment.
Exhibiting great game use, there are a number of dark marks over the front band, with additional marks and board burns over each sleeve. There are also half a dozen team repairs over the right sleeve and four on the left, with some peeling to the reverse numbers.
