Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Two of pro hockey's early stars are featured here, with the better known Hall of Famer being Newsy Lalonde, the two-sport star who also was a prominent lacrosse player at the time Imperial Tobacco issued hockey and lacrosse cards. Newsy's 1911-12 card #42 is trimmed, leading to the "A AUTH" on the SGC label, but sure is nice to admire in its apparent crease-free form. Meanwhile legendary Quebec Bulldogs' goaltender Paddy Moran's rookie card from 1910-11 pictures him in a Haileybury sweater, which he wore for just the 1909-10 campaign when Quebec was denied entry into the National Hockey Association. He rejoined Quebec the next season when the club was admitted to the league and backstopped the Bulldogs to Stanley Cup titles in 1911-12 and '12-13. Card #28 is also a rather attractive low grade example, with a half-inch horizontal tear and nearby crease in the middle left region, to go along with light subtle adhesive remnants on the reverse, only detectable when the relic is held at an angle.
