Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The cards of Chicago sports heroes Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull highlight Topps's 1960-61 issue, with Mikita's modest first season statistics of eight goals and 18 assists listed on the back of his cherished rookie card. The diminutive center sure blossomed in the 1960s, four times (in a five-season span) winning the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champion, while remarkably reducing his single-season penalty minute total from 154 (top ten of the league) to just 12(!) two seasons later to earn the Lady Byng Trophy for gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Twice Mikita was awarded the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Crease-free example of Stan's rookie card includes corner wear and some ink transfer on the front, from the reverse of another '60-61 card, and has been given KSA's unique mark of 6.5 ENM+. No notable flaws/issues are to report with the holder itself.
