Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres played on October 7. The Rangers wore special jerseys with “New York” diagonally across the front instead of the traditional "Rangers". The night started with a touching pre-game ceremony honoring the men and women in uniform who died trying to save lives in the World Trade Center attacks. The NYPD and FDNY hockey teams lined up on the ice and the Rangers stood between them during their introductions. We offer the example wore by Igor Ulanov at that evening's somber contest. An LOA from the New York Rangers will accompany.
Size 58 tagging is affixed to the collar, with partially embroidered CCM and NHL patches on the back neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with drop shadow tackle twill numbers, including “New York” diagonally across the front, with the important 9/11 ribbon situated over the left shoulder. Game-wear includes just a few random marks, with a fair-sized hole resulting from a board burn near the right elbow. Following the game, both sets of jerseys were auctioned off to raise money for the Twin Towers Fund, with the auctions eclipsing $215,000. The jersey has been signed on the second back “5” by Ulanov for the auction, with the signature displaying well.
