Well remembered as the Washington Capitals’ premier defenceman throughout the 1980s, Rod Langway was named to the NHL All-Star First Team in both seasons he secured the James Norris, in 1982-83 and 1983-84, with six consecutive appearances made at the NHL’s best-on-best showcase. From his fourth All-Star Game in 1984, we have a signed Wales Conference jersey worn by the Stanley Cup-winning HOF blueliner. Gerry Cosby and CCM labels with handwritten “54” sizing grace the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest over the reverse bottom hem. Featuring “Wales” placed diagonally across the chest in dual-colour drop-shadow tackle twill, the solid white V-neck has been accented with sleeve and verso numbers in matching material, with “Langway” in individual letters placed across the upper reverse. Originating from Rod Langway's personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
The garment has been further augmented with black twill stars placed over the front and reverse bands and sleeves, with NHL shield crests over each shoulder. In beautiful overall condition, a few dark marks are present over the lower front, with additional examples over the left sleeve. Langway has signed just above the right breast in blue marker, and the signature displays well, with minimal bleeding.
