Meeting the expectations of his lofty billing, Wayne Gretzky would secure an impressive 137 points during his inaugural NHL campaign despite his teenage status, with this his first of 13 consecutive seasons scoring more than 100 points. Always on the want list of collectors, especially in a coveted high-grade state, we have a 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee Gretzky rookie card, with this desirable specimen encapsulated and graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Depicting Wayne in full game action in his WHA Oilers jersey and brandishing his preferred Titan model stick, PSA has graded over 5500 Gretzky rookies at the time of this writing, with 705 cards at this lofty tier including 202 qualified examples, with just 153 graded higher including a mere pair receiving a perfect Gem Mint 10. This beautiful example sports a clean reverse, with just two very thin horizontal blue print lines that continue through the length of the card. Ready for prominent placement within any advanced Wayne Gretzky, Edmonton Oilers or rookie hockey card collection, this high-grade specimen is a must for any quality-built 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee set.
