Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
A labour of love for one lucky individual in the 1930s, with his resulting legacy a desirable relic now coveted by collectors, we have a small autograph booklet with a number of signatures from past NHL legends. At approx 4” x 6 ¼”, the small thick booklet contains the signatures of 9 notable players, including 7 deceased members of the Hall of Fame. First, we have a beautiful and bold black ink lone signature on a single page from Busher Jackson – with his full “Harvey Busher Jackson”, along with “Toronto Maple Leafs 1934” added in his hand. This is followed by a pair of pages with pencil signatures placed in columns, with Joe Primeau and Eddie Burke (NY Americans) on one along with others, and Leafs Hap Day, Busher Jackson (second signature), Art Jackson, Charlie Conacher and Roy Worters, along with Foster Hewitt on the other.
There are also signatures from Joe Stark (name is engraved on the Stanley Cup with the 1934 Black Hawks) and minor-league player Gord Baxter. Slightly bunched together within their columns, the signatures display well, with the Hewitt and Conacher especially dark examples. The book itself is in poor condition, with considerable damage to the covers - both falling apart, and minor toning to the interior pages.
