Enjoying an especially lengthy professional career that included time in the NHL, WHA, AHL and WHL with stops with the Maple Leafs, Kings, Canucks (WHL) and others, Larry Cahan also served as an inaugural member of the Chicago Cougars, in 1972-73. This Cougars captain’s jersey was worn by the 38-year-old veteran during the club’s first season of existence, in 1972-73. A Rawlings label with “48” sizing resides next to a Gunzo’s supplier tag on the inside reverse hem, with no other labeling present. Featuring a gorgeous team crest with chain-stitched detailing, “5” appears over the chest, sleeves and verso in single green twill, with no nameplate currently affixed (there is evidence visible of a former nameplate). Immensely historic, this desirable sweater saw use during the very first season of the infamous WHA.
Surviving in beautiful condition with the colouration remaining bold throughout, a few small random stains are visible including over the right shoulder and near the reverse number, with numerous fabric pulls over each sleeve. There are also team repairs present, over the lower left front and left sleeve, with the left sleeve’s number also repaired.
