Drafted No. 5 overall by the New York Islanders in 2000, forward Raffi Torres wore this navy blue gamer during his first NHL season in 2001-02. Torres had one assist in 14 games for the Islanders as a 20-year-old. His No. 16 game-worn jersey has Made in Canada and size 56 flag tags in the back of the neck that are sewn over by nameplate stitching. Islanders equipment manager Joe McMahon signed in bold black marker to the right of the “Customised by Cutting Edge Sports Exsclusivly (sic) for the New York Islanders Set #1 2000-2001 Away” team stamp inside the right rear hem. Silver and black early-2000s NHL crest is embroidered on the right rear hem. According to a MeiGray Group representative the jersey was worn in 2001-02 as a Navy Set 1 jersey. There are a number of black marks on the front tail, and more game wear shows in board burns and unrepaired burn holes on the right sleeve, and left shoulder and sleeve, which has some blue paint transfer on the elbow, black marks on the sleeves and rear tail, and a black mark on the bottom of the “N” of the stylized “NY” on the Islanders crest on the front. Comes with a MeiGray COR.
